How the math works

Concentration, volume, and syringe units

Concentration. Divide the peptide amount in the vial by the volume of bacteriostatic water added: concentration (mg/mL) = vial mg ÷ water mL.

Volume to draw. Divide the desired amount (converted to mg — mcg ÷ 1000) by the concentration: volume (mL) = desired mg ÷ concentration.

Syringe units. A U-100 insulin syringe holds 100 units per 1 mL, so units = volume (mL) × 100.

How do I calculate peptide concentration after reconstitution?

Divide the peptide amount in the vial (mg) by the volume of bacteriostatic water added (mL). A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives a concentration of 5 mg/mL.

How many units is a research amount on a U-100 insulin syringe?

A U-100 insulin syringe holds 100 units per 1 mL. Divide the desired amount (in mg) by the concentration to get the volume in mL, then multiply by 100 to get syringe units.

How much bacteriostatic water should I add to a peptide vial?

Any volume works mathematically, but more bacteriostatic water lowers the concentration and increases the volume drawn. Choose a volume that keeps the result within the capacity of a 30, 50, or 100 unit insulin syringe.
